Little Big Town & The Best Cover of 2011

littlebtown

Rarely do I repost a video that originates on YouTube. To me, simple things like that are why twitter exists. However, when I stumbled across one of the most talented bands in country music covering one of the best pop songs of 2011, I couldn’t resist, I had to post it.

Little Big Town, one of the most talented and embarrassingly under-rated bands (Little Big Town > Lady Antebellum) in country music today, decided to cover Jessie J’s fantastic pop song “Price Tag” in a very stripped, bus-friendly fashion. The results are quite possibly better than what Jessie J might have envisioned for her song when it was originally recorded.

The harmonies, the folksy feel, the white-country-man rap – it’s perfection. I’ve yet to find a cover song that was better executed this year than this little nugget of enjoyment. Then again, I’ve not heard Blake Shelton’s version of Lupe Fiasco’s “The Show Must Go On” (That was a joke, but a hopeful pun indeed)

Watch, learn, and discover the continued greatness of Little Big Town as they cover the soulful Jessie J.

I totally agree. They refuse to be anything less than a country group. I love that!! Thanks for the comments.

Everything I thought about this cover is exactly what you said above.  It is flawless.  I love Little Big Town and it kills me when I see lesser acts play arenas while LBT is opening for some artists who are not nearly as good as them.  They have a large repertoire of stellar songs and their live performances are amazing, yet I have to watch Lady A win Grammys.  Embarrassingly underrated, indeed.

thanks for commenting. the best part about little big town is their refusal to be anything but a talented, country foursome. no pop crossover, just great music.
